Dr. Alejandro Herrera, a Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic resident, has worked in the government sector since 1988. Until August of 2020, Dr. Alejandro Herrera served as managing director of the Instituto Dominicano de Aviacion Civil (IDAC), a government agency that certifies, monitors, and supplies air traffic navigation services for aeronautical services in the country.
In late December 2020, IDAC announced the launch of a station, Transparency and Citizen Attention (TAC), at the Gregorio Luperon International Airport in Puerto Plata. It will support and streamline services to pilots, airlines, aerodrome construction, antenna installation, and the general public. The office will also issue flying permits.
The addition of this office makes it more convenient for people who no longer need to travel to Santo Domingo to access IDAC services. From the airport in Puerto Plata, people can submit applications for a tall building, wind farm, and antenna construction, and they can also get approval to build a heliport. They can also get certification to be an aircraft maintenance technician and certification for aeronautical maintenance workshops, in addition to continuing education for specific skills.
